I love the saying “Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity”. Seneca died in 65 AD, so the saying has been around awhile. And, still true, right?

I made a curious discovery more recently. When I focus on the things I am grateful for, more luck shows up. It’s true! When I’m counting my blessings or focused on all the things I appreciate about my life, I notice more good things!

Mala Rambharose came to share her story at Spoken Lives many years ago and she told us about how she used a traffic counter to count the positive affirmations that she said to herself each day. I adopted the idea to count the affirmations and positive things I say to myself. I have proven to myself that when I reach 100 clicks, I have a much better day! Great things show up and I’m more motivated and energized. I also get more done. My preference is to click the traffic counter on my walks. This way, I’m getting my steps in while flooding myself with wonderful messages. It sure gives a boost to my day!

The trick is to remember and that’s why I keep my traffic counter in my coat pocket. Hope you can try giving yourself a shower of affirmations and positive messages. Do you want to try saying a few of these out loud? Find out how they make you feel?

I am healthy. I am releasing tension with each breath I take. I believe in myself. I am grateful for my wisdom. I am wealthy. I am resilient. I am fun to be around. I am brave. I am capable. I am safe. I am free of anything that weighs me down. I am loved. I am sexy. I am a good friend. I am proud of myself and all that I have accomplished. I am a beautiful person. I choose to be happy today. I am lovable. I am in awe of what I’m capable of doing. I matter. I make wise choices. I am open and receptive to all the good in my life. I am at peace. I am loving. I say yes to myself, today. I am worthy. I am bold. I forgive myself. I am a magnet for love. I am talented and intelligent. I am who I want to be. I am grateful for all that I have. I am creative. I am kind. I love my life. I am successful. I am blessed. I am getting stronger. I am making a difference.

Write down the ones you like and tape them to the bathroom mirror and say them each morning. Or, put that paper in your pocket and you can say them when you’re out for a walk. You can repeat them if you want to get to 100 positive messages. It sure helps give me a boost. Just google “affirmations” to find messages that may be useful for you in your life, today? Or, make them up! They need to be spoken in the present tense and in the positive.

When friends are going through a tough time, I’ve written some affirmations down on sticky notes and mailed them to them. That’s been a hit! They stick them up around their home to remind them to say and think positive things to themselves.

I always aim to be prepared for the opportunities that show up in my life. With each birthday, I gather information, skills and master abilities. When I have these, with a positive outlook, I can say “yes” to the new options that appear.

We’ll be chatting about these and other things on March 14th at our 2:00 pm Tea Time. Tickets are no charge on Eventbrite. Hope you can join us. I’m hosting Tea Time on the second Sunday of each month in 2021. Our next speakers’ event is on March 30 – five fabulous women will share their personal stories of adventure and triumph! Details about their topics and tickets for only $10 on Eventbrite. Hope to see you there!
